As previously promised I’m back to blogging and as you may or may not know never (ever) live a dull day. A few weeks ago I took a piece of Aspens Chex mix (specifically the brown hard crisp piece) and had been experiencing pain in a few of my front right bottom teeth ever since. I say a few because I strangely couldn’t pin-point what tooth it was despite examining my mouth in every mirror possible and trying to bite on each tooth to claim the culprit. The pain progressed despite taking daily doses of Ibuprofen and I decided to call my dentist (yes this took two weeks as I was convinced it was just a “bruised tooth” thanks to the help of chat GPT) Of course, they told me to come in immediately for a x-ray.
So I’m sitting in the chair and my dentist is tapping a tool against each tooth asking me which one hurts and I say no to every tooth. Then he does an x-ray and doesn’t see anything. At this point I think thank g-d, it must be a nerve and there’s nothing to worry about, but then he pulls out a scaler and starts poking around the gum under a capped tooth that I had a root canal on 12 years ago, and thats when I flinch.
So then he goes “It can’t be, It can’t be” and I start to panic and asked what had happened and thats when he told me (and I quote) “My tooth had vanished”.

At this point I’m wishing I had a beta blocker in my pocket, and looking at the dental hygienist like a deer in headlights. One of the biggest problems with crowns is that the tooth underneath can still decay silently if bacteria gets under the edge and usually people don’t even notice anything until the crown loosens, pain starts, or the tooth underneath has severely deteriorated. My dentist then explained that the reason I was experiencing pain from my front teeth and not the molar, was because the nerves from the molar run forward.
Therefore the Chex potato chip was a sheer coincidence and not the culprit.
Long story short: I have to most likely get the tooth extracted unless my dentist can try to save it for another 5-7 years (which would then involve using a laser to reduce my gum line). It’s all about as unpleasant as it sounds and i’m absolutely petrified to get the tooth extracted and a dental implant as I know it will be a complicated case.

As of right now I have a temporary cap on the tooth for a few weeks just so that everything can calm down (including my nervous system). So aside from the very exciting tooth saga it’s been a busy few weeks. Aspens about to turn 12 and move up to middle school, Bluebelle has a chronic ear infection, and I’m still slathering my self in self tanner wondering what to do with my self every other day.
I’ve also finally deviated from eating the same lunch on repeat and now on a salad kick (cucumber, corn and tomato salad and a lemon arugula orzo salad with feta). For dinner I’ve been eating a lot of Salmon and cauliflower rice. I use this air fryer for everything.
Anyway thats it for now..
