Hiii I’m back from a little social media hiatus. I stopped writing, posting and recording. Slowly but surely I turned into a “doom scroller” of social media. I watched girls as young as 28 get facelifts on TikTok and bodies getting smaller by the second (hi, Ozempic era).
It’s almost comical how toxic my social media algorithm got. How easily swayed I was to believe there was something wrong with me because I didn’t have bones protruding or a table booked at La Guérite on a random Saturday in St Barts.
It’s a delicate line to cross. Wondering what’s real and what’s AI, what’s real and what’s photoshopped. The more time I spent consuming, the more inferior I felt. The unsettling part is that it’s not slowing down anytime soon. Influencers feel less and less relatable, drifting further into these hyper curated and surreal lifestyles.
Bachelorette parties flown in on $40 million private jets, beach clubs in Cannes, spontaneous trips to Tokyo. It just keeps escalating. I could go on and on about how wildly unattainable influencer life has become, but I went on a much deeper dive on that here.
So with all of that said let’s talk about my sudden hiatus. Long story short it just became too much. My life felt boring in comparison to the glitz and glam lifestyles posted all over the internet. My life is real and raw as I navigate Paraneoplastic syndrome, an almost 12 year old and a cocker spaniel who still gets the occasional zoomies and favors cheese sandwiches over pedigree.
I’m constantly wondering what to share, where to share and when to share -cognizant of the madness going on in the world. So let’s do some little life updates:

Solid Core: I tried my first class and somehow managed to gain 8 LBS of pure, artisanal inflammation. I joke that my “solid” core quickly turned into a “fat” core overnight. When you have autoimmune issues, MCAS, and goodness knows what running rampant in your body, trying anything new feels less like self care and more like a science experiment. This is why I cling to my routines like they’re a personality trait. And no, not the aesthetic, color-coded, 5am miracle routines from TikTok. I mean the deeply unglamorous, same-food, same-clothes, same-everything routines. Yes, I will eat the same meal, do the same workout, and rotate through my 50 identical pairs of favorite leggings year round.
Now I will say that the class was great but definitely challenging. I had muscles shaking that I didn’t even know existed. It’s recommended to take a starter-50 class which are almost impossible to get into unless you book two weeks in advance and check the schedule regularly for cancelations. These classes have the instructor demonstrate moves on the reformer so that you’re not a deer in headlights listening to demands and wondering what the hell a cage is. Obviously each studio has a different vibe and atmosphere but taking a 930am class meant I was the oldest one and surrounded by college kids. I was also shocked at how tiny everyone was including the instructor. Suddenly doing 5 classes of Pure Barre per week seemed less than significant.
Books: First of all if you don’t have a kindle then what are you doing? I use the libby app to download books from my local library. It’s been a game changer as a book shelf can only hold so many books. Some of my favorites this year have been Heart The Lover, and Pretty Girls (currently reading).

Purchases: I have been prematurely obsessed with the boatkin since last summer. I actually stumbled upon this mini pink Terry cloth one in Marshalls and then purchased a full size one which I linked in navy. Summer cannot come soon enough as we had an absolute brutal NY winter. Harrods bear courtesy of my mum and sister who just got returned back from London.
Food: Here’s where I get extremely boring and in the wise words of SJP can be described as more “Coco Chanel than coq au vin”. For breakfast I usually have an English muffin with eggs and for lunch I’ve been in the habit of eating a beet and goat cheese salad with a turkey and tomato wrap (grilled) for months. Dinner is usually a protein, carb, and veg of sort. AKA the most mundane and boring meal plan to plant earth.
Motherhood: I can’t believe my baby is turning 12 in less than a month. Where does the time go? Also pre-teen years are no joke. We’ve been busy navigating homework, travel soccer, and all the twists and turns of these pivotal years.
Well thats it for now. I’m so happy to be back writing and posting
