The truth in Juice. There is the BluePrint cleanse, the Cooler Cleanse, The Pressed Juicery, Urban remedy, Organic Avenue..need I go on. But are these “juice” cleansing’s really cleansing you? Or cleansing your wallet?
For whatever reason, I decided that I wanted to “detox” with one of these delivery diets. I did research on each of them, from taste-cost-result, digging deep would be an understatement. Most of them range from $59-$90 a day, adding up to $419-$630 a week. In my terms, thats one Valentino shoe.
These cleansing “elixirs” are each different in their own way, except for being pricey. Especially for something that has 3 ingredients like: celery, kale and beets. There is also common controversy on whether these “detoxes” are actually healthy for you. One thing I must say, is that each of their websites and bottles are quite riveting. Then again for drinking something that includes ingredients like: Kale, romaine, spinach, and celery their bottle and “about us” page better be.
So then it comes down on which one to pick. My top three included: BPC, Urban Remedy, and Organic Avenue. “Never judge a book by its cover” just happened, three times. Unfortunately and to no surprise, all of the reviews were either one extreme or another. Some loved, some hated, and others were just way TMI. But if you’re looking to diet, I wouldn’t pick “juicing”. One bottle can have up to 300 calories, 19 grams of fat, 3 grams of saturated fat, 52 carbs and 21 grams of sugar (GASP!)
Yet they each assert to have both mental, and physical benefits (as well as giving you the nutrients that you might otherwise be lacking in your regular diet). Urban Remedy claims that there juices help you:
- Lose Weight
- Reverse Aging
- Glow
- Detox
- Boost Immunity
- Reduce Inflammation
- Support digestion
- Improve circulation
- Energize
- Improve memory
- Increase virility
If you are startled or engrossed by the following claims, so was I! It seems like a miracle Juice, and exactly what I need before midterms. Worried about getting light headed by not eating solids? Well, rest assured,”ones mind becomes clearer and ones ability to solve problems enhances. This is because instead of large amounts of blood and nervous energies being sent to the digestive organs to break down a meal, the extra blood, oxygen and energy is sent and utilized by the brain” claims BPC. But by no means is this “juicing” an easy thing. No soda, gum, tea, caffeine, (alcohol is obvious) or seltzer. You also have to be willing to paying a three figure price point for vegetables, and stomach the ingredients.
