Once upon a time we were all young and watched the kids choice awards, or at least shows that ended themselves up on the Kids Choice awards. Yesterday my little diva five year old sister Poppy, was watching the awards on Nickalodean whilst Mauro was running out to forty carrots getting us two gigantic frozen yogurts, and I was laying on my couch complaining of my throat hurting.
As we all know, Selena Gomez’s approach to her split with Justin Bieber has been sanguine. As she continues to differentiate herself from her Disney princess days, it’s apparent that the heart throb still remains in the hearts of many teens, by getting crowned “favorite actress” last night.
Despite “The Wizards Of Waverly Place” ending, Selena was chuffed to be named Favourite actress of the year. Beside her were Katy Perry and Kristen Stewart, who have also had quite a year of drama, beyond the big screen.
Quite frankly I am not a fan of Kristen Stewart, (and think her Osman Yousefzada outfit last night looked like a pair of polka dot pajamas, gone wrong) but since her nadir last summer (having an affair with her married director Rupert Sanders) and her reconciliation with Robert Pattinson, the Twilight fans have once again claspered to her.
The young fans seemingly love these three women, and after accepting her gong (yes gong is a word!) for “Favorite singer” Katy Perry accepted her award saying “It’s the coolest award. I love you kids. Stay in school and stay safe.”
As for fashion, Selena wore Oscar De La Renta shorts and a cream peplum top with Gucci sandals and a Diane Von Furstenburg clutch, while Katy and Kristen both wore black louboutins.
Other attendees included, Jessica Alba, Sandra Bullock, Neil Harris, Ke$ha, Fergie, Christina Aguliera, Pitball, Dwane Johnson, Adam Sandler (who won favourite voice from an animated movie for Hotel Transylvania), Kevin Hart, Mirando Cosgrove, and Kaley Cuoco.
Alongside other performers (Christina Aguliera and Pitball) Ke$ha also performed, changing out of her crazy blue suit and hat, into a fur coat, tiny black shorts and a yellow top as she sang her song “C’Mon.”
Johnny Depp also made a surprise performance after scooping the favorite movie actor, for his role in Dark shadows. ‘I’m truly honoured and humbled to get this award,’ the 49-year-old (and grateful) actor told the audience. ‘You’re the future.’
