Let’s just jump back into writing (or typing) by being vulnerable for a second. Over the past 6 months I have applied for countless jobs not even making it to ONE interview. Nope not even a zoom. Why? I have no idea. I have experience, I have passion, I have grit. My experience is in social media marketing and real estate. I’ve had my blog for 15 years (how did that happen?) and Real Estate (for 10 years) where I started in the heart of Spring Street in Manhattan, 5 minutes from Bloomingdales.
I’ve worked with brands and clients all over the world, still get referrals all of these years later and yet crickets when applying for jobs. Yes it gets worse-i didn’t even get a single interview (except maybe thats a good thing because that would just add to my rejection). It’s almost like dating. You know how they say that men have really bad dating profiles and to just swipe right anyway? (or left? tbh i’m not on apps anymore to know the lingo) No one wants to take a chance anymore.

Except me. I was tired of rejection emails from companies saying they’ve filled the role, tired of men ghosting on dating apps (which is why I gave up on the apps long ago) and dove head first into my own social media @britishnewyorker. I recently hit 10,000 followers, had a video go viral on Youtube and Instagram where collectively I have 91,500 views (and growing).
So on a random Wednesday I wrote out an entire business plan for launching my business Curate To Close. I’m In the process of renewing my real estate license with a 22.5 hr continuing education course, except this time I’m going to be working as a referral agent so that I can help other agents launch and grow their social media.
So what about influencing? that’s absolutely my passion. But so is Real Estate, and so is Social Media. So this? This is a middle ground. Is it an oversaturated market? probably. But what industry isn’t?
I’ll be continuing with growing my own social media, but helping a completely different industry grow theirs as well.
I’m terrified of failing. But i’ve always had an entrepreneurial drive. I’m self motivated, driven, and determined to be successful. I don’t expect it to be easy, but i’ve never been one to take the easy route in life.
I’m excited (and semi terrified) to share this journey with you but happy to be back writing and creating again.
