If you’ve been following me on instagram @britishnewyorker you know I’m a big believer in Self Care Sunday. I started implementing these days early pandemic. I realized that you didn’t need a spa, a nail salon or an on-call airbrush artist in your living room with a pop up purple tent to feel fabulous.
In fact all you really need is some good self tanner, tweezers, nail polish and bubble bath. Which is why I’m excited to share my top items for your perfect Self Care Sunday!
- Aromatherapy Candle – My ultimate favorite candles are the sweet scented ones at Bath and Body Works. I’m talking Jam Donut, Peach Bellini and Mint Chocolate Chip. BUT for self care I love aromatherapy candles. I have this Bergamot & Jasmine candle in my bedroom, perfect to decompress. Added bonus? It has lasted forever!
2. Makeup Headbands – I use these headbands every single day. Whether I’m washing my face, putting on self-tanner, makeup or taking off makeup. There is nothing worse than hair in your face and these cozy bands help!
3. Dead Sea Mud Mask– I swear this is another ever lasting jar of bliss. I’ve had it for what feels like forever. I usually do a mud-mask every 10 days or so but also use it as spot-treatment overnight. Works like a dream!
4. Vera Wang Princess – This perfume is on sale from $75 to just $22 and that would make anyone feel like a princess. It’s one of my favorites second to Angel.
5. Bondi Sands Self Tanner– Whenever I’m feeling down, I rely on a good self tanner for an instant pick-me up.. I’ve been using this one for years after finding it in a random Duane Reade on 77th and 2nd avenue. Since, BONDI SANDS has exploded and can be found all over, and I have no question as to why. It doesn’t look orange, doesn’t have a weird smell-and can fool anyone that you’ve been laying on a beach in the Hamptons for the past 7 days – or should I say taken a trip around the world to Australlia (pre-pandemic that is)
6. Self Tan Mitt- Unless you want orange hands, and who wants orange hands? A good self-tanning mitt is a must. I used to use a sock, and let me tell you-the mitt has been an absolute game changer. It’s cheaper than a Strawberry Frappachino at Starbucks, AND protects your hands.
7. Gel Nail Polish Kit – You don’t need a nail salon or even an event to throw on some good nail polish. This kit is reduced from $60 to $32.99 and includes 6 polishes, a UV lamp and designs. It would also make a cute present!
8. A Good Book– I chose a Gabby Bernstein Book because Melissa Wood personally recommended way back when. I absolutely love Gabby and Melissa. If you’re looking for a good-mood book, or just looking to dig deeper into yourself then I highly recommend Gabby. I loved this one because it teaches you to look for signs in the universe, and have faith in your journey.
9. Champagne Gummy Bears – These aren’t just any type of gummy bears- these are gummy bears filled with Dom Perignon. Bellinis more your thing on a Sunday? They have those here.
10. Shower Steamers – No time for a bath bomb? Well these shower steamers are the next best thing to wash away all of your days stress (or Sunday scaries!)
