I’m in a flunk. I know that this probably doesn’t come as a surprise to just about anyone (that actually knows me) but just as I think and believe it cannot get any worse it absolutely gets that much worse. It’s looking like New York is headed for a second lockdown, schools are going to close until the New Year and to top it all off my weight has spiraled out of bloody control. Which I’m partially to blame for because 1) I have so much on my mind that I do not sleep for more than 2-3 hours and 2) I keep finding myself mindlessly eating pints of gingerbread ice cream hoping that each swirl of icing brings some sort of relief.. which it certainly does not.
It seems as though the weeks are flying by, thanksgiving is less than two weeks away and to cheer myself up I’ve already started to decorate for Christmas. Somehow in between moving out of NYC last year, and into my parents house for a few months I lost all of our Christmas decorations, so I’ve been picking them up places as I go along. We also ordered a lovely new tree from Amazon. It’s covered in snow, pre-lit and the best part yet? only cost $130 which is a win in my book. Especially considering the ones that I were looking at (on Balsam Hill aka the Harry Winston of Christmas decorations) were starting at $800+. The top two items on Aspens Christmas Christmas list this year are an iPad and a Nintendo. So it’s looking like I’m going to have to win the lottery or pray for a Christmas miracle.
We also decorated the outside of our house with Christmas lights. Word to the wise: measure out how many you actually need before ordering 145FT of lights. Although I got a fantastic deal price wise, it took absolutely ages to untangle them one by one and thread through the columns! I have a new appreciation for my grandfather who used to decorate the outside of his house every year.
Anyway I wanted to share some of my favorite holiday finds so far:
Happy Decorating!
