Well hello there long lost blog! It’s been quite a while since my last post, so given that I (without a doubt) wake up every morning at 5 am, I decided today would be the perfect opportunity to share some of my incredible beach finds from Amazon. Not much has changed over here, other than trying to stress less, snack less and savor every step of life one day at a time.
We recently joined a private beach club near by, and since moving back to the suburbs it’s fair to say my beach accessories were (close to) non existent. I mean there isn’t sand and an ocean in the middle of Central Park, nor is there the space to store a beach umbrella and cooler in a small apartment that you’re paying over the odds for – you get the gist. So yesterday I went on an Amazon shopping spree. Here are my top finds:
- Beach blanket – I honestly LOVE this blanket, which can be used for a picnic or at the beach. It may be one of my favorite Amazon purchases this year (which is saying a lot as I have boxes at my doorstep more or less everyday of the year). It’s made well, easy to carry around and all in all: just a beautiful blanket.
2) Beach pillow – Sand is not made to be a pillow, and your cover up or Jean shorts do not suffice. This pillow is well worth the investment. It’s soft, padded, and portable.
3) A beach bag – Ok this bag may not be the trendiest out there but bare with me, this one is EXTREMELY convenient. I wanted a bag and a cooler and this one was a two in one which I love. I also love how many compartments that it has, because let’s be honest-who wants to be digging around there bag looking for sunglasses or sunscreen in 90 degree heat? It also comes in black, but I like the blue so that I can spot the bag if we start to drift in the ocean (you never know!)
4) Striped Cabana Towel – Maybe it’s from my days working as a personal stylist at Bendels, but I love a good stripe, plus everyone needs an oversized towel for the beach! It also comes in multiple colors.
5) Portable umbrella – Shade is important. Long gone are the days of tanning beds and wanting to be as bronze as possible. Do I like my legs to get a little tan? sure, but when it comes to sun protection and my face I’m all about a good sun shade. This umbrella can latch on to a table, a stroller, a chair – you name it! Best part? it’s only $19.99 (plus it comes in multiple colors!).
6) Large cooler – If you’re not ready to splurge on a YETI cooler then here’s the next best thing at a fraction of the cost. What I love about this one is how sturdy it is. It also has a built-in bottle opener and would make the perfect gift for Fathers day!
7) Individual Cooler Blocks – Call me crazy but I honestly think these blocks are genius. They also have over 3000 positive ratings for a reason.
8) Sunbum- I first discovered this sunscreen at Sunset Beach many years ago. Of course buying from a boutique, on and island (shelter island) the mark up was ridiculous – but the scent of coconut was well worth the cost. I’m also a big fan of there invisible zinc oxide sunscreen for your face. Especially if you are prone to breakouts like me!
9) Phone pouch – Again..this may not be the trendiest thing in the world, but if your phone is your third hand (much like me) this is an absolute MUST have.
10) Sarong– sarongs are having a moment this summer and I’m very into it. Maybe it’s the 90’s girl in me, or maybe it’s the fact that they make your body look like Shakira’s (who knows)-but I’m all for a good summer trend resurfacing!
