So while sitting, waiting, and waking up to “pumped up kicks” via iTunes, I started to think about shoes (specifically the Charlotte Olympia ones I posted on my style yesterday) but in all seriousness do we wear our hearts on our sleeves or our hearts on our shoes?
It sounds absolutely absurd, but when I started to really think about it, I thought about how many prior (emphasis) men in my life have actually walked all over me. I have only had three serious relationships in my life (including the one that I am in now) and I can admit to being in love 2/3 of those times. In-between wasn’t pretty, from breaking up to making up. To going on awkward first dates where I stared at my closet for 2 hours and debated buying a bottle of grey goose to calm my nerves.
But those men each taught me something. To not wear your heart on your sleeve. Don’t stand for BS, and make sure that you are treated the way you deserve to be treated.
So back to those lovely Charlotte Olympia shoes, does Ms Olympia have a hidden motive? decorated with hearts and an additional platform to keep our heads (and 5’4 selves) held high?
I think as women we are inevitable to kiss some “bad frogs” before actually finding the one, and the same goes for men.”Later that day, I got to thinking about tense relationships. And by that I mean a relationship and its connection to the past, present, and future tense. At a certain age, we’ve all had relationships that are far from past perfect, but how much does that past relationship affect our dream of a future perfect? And as I became more and more tense, I couldn’t help but wonder: can you get to a future if your past is present?”-Carrie Bradshaw
With women slowly but surely breaking through the “glass ceiling”, I think these shoes are extremely appropriate. For more than beauty, height, and fashion.
