I’ve wanted to write this post all weekend long. With words and sentences scrambling in my head I was quick to remember why I started blogging in the first place. I use my blog as an outlet of expression. The only downside? The lack of anonymity.
Despite committing to writing more in 2019, life took a toll with twists and turns. It’s been impossible to stay consistent.
I’m hoping 2020 is a year where I can really get back on track, travel more and share my journey with you all throughout the process.
Looking back the last 11 months have been a whirlwind. I can’t believe Thanksgiving is next week, or that I have a five-year-old on a daily basis.
Adding to the twists and turns, I’m starting to distance myself from social media. A few months ago I checked into the gym on Facebook and someone (close to me) called me out asking why I felt the need to.
I took the question way out of context and deeply analyzed why I felt the need to share it along with why I felt the need to share anything. Do I really need the satisfaction of others to feel good about myself?
The answer pondered in my head for a few days before I finally came up with the answer. Posting was a clear (and false) picture that everything in life was normal and ok.
Let’s be honest, no part of my life at 27 is normal. Starting with the fact that I have a 5-year old whose dead beat “father” owes over $70,000 in child support. Did I mention he went to jail for domestic violence towards us too?
The stories go on and on which I rarely open up about. After all, social media is a platform to showcase your life not dwell on everything that goes on around it.
What are your thoughts on posting photos instead of facing reality?
