I posted this delicious smoothie without protein powder a few months back, but since have made it my mission to adapt and tweak until I feel confident that you will enjoy it (and share it with friends/family!) as much as I do! I drink two of these most mornings because I enjoy them so much. I also love that I’m not adding processed powder to my body.
I’ve said it before and I will say it again: Do not be thrown off by the cauliflower rice that goes into this smoothie. I know it sounds disgusting but sounding and tasting are two completely different senses! The frozen strawberries completely mask any taste of cauliflower.
Ingredients
-75g Frozen Strawberries (frozen have a stronger taste than fresh)
-1/2 cup Frozen Cauliflower Rice
-1 cup vanilla unsweetened almond milk
-4-5 ice cubes
-Dash of Vanilla Extract
-Dash of Liquid Stevia
-1/8th cup of water (just a little so that everything mixes nicely)
Instructions
- Pour almond milk into blender
- Add strawberries and cauliflower rice
- Add ice cubes followed by the vanilla extract, and stevia
- Top with 1/8th cup of water and give the blender a little shake
- Blend for 60 seconds and enjoy!
And there you have it! A delicious smoothie without protein powder. Now I’m going to be honest (as I always am here..for better or worse) and say that I tried to make this recipe with Frozen Peaches and it did not compare. The peach did not mask the flavor of cauliflower and it was an overall disaster. I haven’t tried raspberries or cherries, but they will definitely be my next experiment. Have you managed to create a delicious recipe without protein powder? I’d love to know your favorites in the comment section below!
