As for The Greaty Gatsby goes, I thought it was magnificent. I’m usually not a big movie person, especially since the tragedy that took place with Batman, but I really enjoyed it. From the diamonds to champagne fountains, billowing silk curtains and the beautiful houses. Everything was perfect.
Except the ending which was really sad. Overall I think the moral of the story is that you can’t live in the past. Because you can live your entire life waiting, wishing, and building for something that never comes back to you. Without giving away exactly what happens for those abroad who haven’t yet seen the movie-that’s all I will say.
There are also some really romantic parts in the movie, which make you gush. Like when “Mr Gatsby” throws clothes at Daisy Buchanan while she’s laying on his bed, and when they rekindle the five years lost sitting at a tea party in her cousin Nicks house, whispering softly and holding hands. It’s a true love story, but in the end a conformation that not all love lasts forever. Or is meant to last forever.
Another lesson I learnt, is that everyone should attend a Gatsby themed party at least once in there life. So I am currently considering hosting a party, for the real set off to summer. Of course I won’t have flappers diving into my pool, or doing the Charleston dance. But I can promise: Moet, a rented rooftop overlooking the entire city, costumes (of course) and Invitations to many.
“He smiled understandingly-much more than understandingly. It was one of those rare smiles with a quality of eternal reassurance in it, that you may come across four or five times in life. It faced–or seemed to face–the whole external world for an instant, and then concentrated on you with an irresistible prejudice in your favor. It understood you just as far as you wanted to be understood, believed in you as you would like to believe in yourself.”- F. Scott Fitzgerald
