I don’t know what day it is, I haven’t put makeup on in over a week, I’ve gained 9.6 lbs (like a bear in hibernation that just can’t stop eating) and – homeschooling Aspen – This is our new normal. I’ve wanted to write this post all week, but with everything going on in the world – I realize all of my “problems” are minor and hopefully temporary. Here’s a quick Q&A/Life update:
1) How often are you leaving your house and for what?
Aspen has a strict regime with school which at first I hated (Think 24 page packet daily..) but now i’m grateful for the structure it’s provided us with. We only pop out to the grocery store when necessary, and try to go on walks for 30-60 min a day to get fresh air and some exercise.
2) What are you most worried about right now? The virus and the impact on the World. (My family, the economic downfall, all of the lives being lost-It feels like a nightmare I can’t wake up from)
3) What do you think you’ll be doing 10 days from today? I believe NY will be on a stricter lockdown 10 days from now.
4) What advice would you give yourself a year ago? Stop & slow down-enjoy life and the simple novelties.
5) What do you think you’ll be doing in exactly one year from today? Good question. This is going to have a huge impact on the world that we know. I’m not sure what the new normal will be..
6) What’s the most significant thing you’ve given up? THE GYM! This sounds selfish, which again is why I was so hesitant to even write this post, but it’s certainly been hard for me. The gym is the “one hour” I have for myself between work, mothering and life. Giving it up and being stuck inside has been a struggle..(did I mention I gained 9.6 lbs!?)
7) What has been the best thing you’ve accomplished this week? Coming to terms with my emotions and fears, writing them down/talking to people rather than holding everything in. It helps-significantly.
8) Do you know anyone who’s been affected? How many? So far I know 4 people affected.
9) Any random purchases? It’s fair to say shopping is a coping mechanism of mine. Some people Sauvignon Blanc – some people shop – each to there own! I was doing pretty well up until the weekend where I decided to impulsively buy an exercise bike (#selfspin) to keep sane. Other than that I’ve purchased a few books which should arrive within the next few days.
That’s it for now. Time to crack down on work & school work while Aspen munches on fruit loops and I pretend to have life together at such an unpredictable time!
Stay safe.
