This morning I wrote on my Substack for an hour, only to still feel like I was somehow cheating on my blog. Navigating that platform has been an adventure in itself. What to post? what to write? do pictures perform better than words thrown together in a big messy paragraph? Do I share how i’m feeling or what i’m wearing? I have so many questions and so little answers-which isn’t that the story of my life?
So today I thought I would write about what was one hell of a week. Major. MAJOR things happened this week starting with scoring my first 4 brand deals (all in 24 hours), Melissa Wood Tepperberg commenting on an instagram post, AND Sahil Bloom who I quoted on Linkedin liking my post. Now if you’re a social media manager who’s going to tell me that someone is managing their accounts -don’t rain on my parade. I’ve been in the industry for 15+ years and chose to believe they themselves saw the posts and liked/commented. Am I delusional? maybe. But is a little bit of delusion the key to get me from point A-Z? quite possibly.
What I accomplished..
A really long walk/hike that felt like we were trekking through the countryside of Scotland. It was beautiful, moody and muddy. A bit like me, minus the mud.
I also lost my breath a few times whilst walking and talking and thought I was going to have to be carried home , but I was determined to finish and did so with a big smile on my face (and very, very muddy sneakers).
After we were done with the trail we went to get coffee at a little coffee shop in town called southdown. For a Thursday afternoon it was packed, but there was one table left- perfect for the two of us.
What I’m Sentimental About..
Watching my son grow up before my eyes. Yesterday I wrote the following post: “As a single mother, our trips to the barber have become a cherished ritual. I often find myself as the only woman in a room where my son, the youngest among seasoned men, sits quietly taking it all in. The air buzzes with the rustle of newspapers, low chatter, and the smooth sound of jazz—each sound painting a world my son is just starting to take in.” It’s so beautiful yet so painful. I wish I could go back in time and have one more newborn snuggle. I miss the days of ducky baths, the smell of Mustela baby wash, and even rocking him to sleep.
but now we are entering a different (and semi-difficult) stage of navigating moods and mood swings. Oh the joy. I’m starting to learn that whilst some parts of motherhood become easier in time, there are also parts that become more difficult.
What I Styled…
When I style my LTK collages, It’s not necessarily my specific style but rather for clients. Are there bits and pieces that I love and immediately add to cart in there? Yes. But it’s a mix of high and low. I’ve recently been laser focused on Spring/Summer, Weddings and Cocktail parties.
And talking of styling it’s almost that time of year where I go through my winter closet and decide to donate half of it to charity and then declare I have nothing to wear for any and every occasion. I find that my personal style is ever evolving. As it should be.
On My Pinterest..
Pinterest is such an underestimated platform for bloggers. One of my most popular posts on my blog is my Lemon Loaf Cake which has over 49,000 shares. To date I get around 498k monthly views on Pinterest and have all sorts of boards on there. My algorithm at the moment is very whimsical. It’s full of pink peonies and preppy style.
That just about sums up my very exciting week, and again if you subscribed here- thank you!
I’m still learning as I go along and hope to make these posts better and better as time goes on. I would love to know what you want to see more of? read more of? or even if you like the layout of posts like this?
