It’s been about 8 weeks since I started BBG workouts. The last time I did Kayla Itsine’s BBG workouts I was 10 lbs skinner and 4 years younger. After gaining a bunch of weight in the fall, I was just beyond fed up. I looked in the mirror and knew that nothing was going to change until my mind did!
On November 20th I committed to change with diet, BBG workouts and running. I’m going to be completely honest and transparent -it was not and IS NOT easy! I can’t tell you how many times I’ve been tempted to give up and eat a donut. Ok, I wouldn’t actually eat a donut but still..I’ve been tempted to give up 1000 times! So let’s jump into the questions..
Why BBG?
Before Covid I was going to Equinox 5-6 times a week. Once lockdown happened and gyms closed, I resorted back to Melissa Wood workouts, and bought a yearly subscription to Megan Roup’s Sculpt Society workouts. It kept me somewhat active but after a few months my body just adapted. I knew I needed something more challenging.
How did you gain weight?
I wish I had the exact answer to this! I think it was a mix of stress, hormones, eating to many carbs and not moving enough. It was really tough mentally because I didn’t even recognize myself in the mirror. I’m so embarrassed to share my before photo!!!
Did BBG make you lose weight?
Technically no. My weight hovers around the same 3lbs but the problem was it just kept increasing. Once I started eating a low carb diet and started BBG/running again it started to stabilize.
What is BBG?
BBG stands for Bikini Body Guides which are training programs created by, Kayla Itsines. Each week you are given three resistance training exercises (each 28 minutes long) one full body, one full body boot camp and one arms/abs circuit. Don’t let the short amount of time fool you though- between burpees, mountain climbers and push ups I’m sweating within 3 minutes!!
Do you enjoy the workouts?
Sometimes yes and sometimes I absolutely dread them- but I never regret it afterwards! I’m always proud of myself once completing something that I find so challenging. I have to constantly remind myself it’s mind over matter!!
When did you see results?
I’m no where near where I want to be! I’m determined to be in the best shape of my life for the last year of my twenties. I’ve started to feel more toned the past 2 weeks or so.
Do you think BBG works?
I definitely think it works if you stick to it, but i also know the importance of tracking what you eat as well!
Are the workouts Complicated?
Complicated? No. Hard? Yes! Sometimes I still have to stop in the middle of a circuit to catch my breath! The app in itself is very simple to navigate. There are videos and instructions on how to do each specific workout.
How do you keep yourself accountable?
By having a routine. I’m such a routine person, so once I have it in my head of what I need to do- I do it!
Have you tried BBG workouts? What did you think? Let me know in the comments!
