Where do I even start? yesterday before treatment I decided to run to our local trader Joes to grab some eggs. As soon as I pull up I noticed the parking lot was unusually busy for 830 am on a Tuesday. The next thing I noticed? A line of 50 people outside waiting to go in.
I was immediately confused but got out of the car anyway and left it to the mum in front of me balancing two kids, an oversized diaper bag and a red Trader Joes cart to ask wtf was going on. An employee monitoring the line explained that it was for the mini pastel tote bags, and that there was no line to actually enter the store and shop. So we both maneuvered around the line and walked into the empty isles, as the line continued to grow.

Thatโs when I decided to google these โviral mini tote bagsโ and realized that they were being sold on eBay for $120 a piece. I assumed that they must be free, so quickly got in line with a cart full of groceries. It wasnโt until I checked out that I realized they were actually $2.99 a piece and that the person handing them out was giving one of each color to each customer (blue, pink, purple and green).
I quickly made the decision that it was worth spending $12 on 4 totes that I would never use, and listed them on Ebay. Kind of like an invigorating experiment that I never asked to be a part of, yet ended up in the middle of.
At first I listed them like my opponents, at $120 a piece plus shipping, but quickly realized that as time went on more and more listings kept showing up. Thatโs when I decided to list all 4 at $40+shipping and within minutes they had sold. Ebay charges a transaction fee of 13.6%. So once all was said and done I profited around $18. Was it worth all the hassle? Probably. It was fun and something Iโve never done before in my life. Plus I love having a good story to share.
