I’m not sure what it was, but this Christmas was incredibly special to Aspen and I. Covid has almost forced me to cherish each day. Watching the magic of Christmas unfold in Aspens eyes in our own special house for the first time is something I will never forget. So lets write a little Christmas 2020 recap shall we?
Creating Our Own Traditions
I wanted to create our own Christmas Eve Tradition, so we decided to pick up frozen yogurt from our favorite spot on Long Island, played Christmas music and made/decorated sugar cookies. Aspen also received a “Christmas Eve box (except I didn’t have a box – so I put it in a Ryans World bag!) From his Elf on The Shelf Kringle. The box had Christmas Pajamas, his favorite book in Christmas version (The Crayons Christmas), strawberry pocky sticks and a reindeer bath bomb.
Recap Of Christmas Day 2020
We started off our Christmas morning at home. A traditional English Christmas Breakfast consists of: Bacon, Pork Sausages, Fried mushrooms/tomato, eggs and toast. AKA the epitome of health. I had some Applegate Turkey and Sage sausages in the freezer and offered to cook them for Aspen, but instead he requested chocolate chip pancakes. So chocolate chip pancakes it was!
Once we were all up and dressed, we took some photos by the tree, loaded up the car with presents and headed to my parents. Of course in 2020 fashion the night before we had a huge wind storm, so 2 road closures and 38 minutes later we finally arrived and within another 38 minutes I had already drunk two glasses of champagne!
We were both spoiled rotten. That evening I asked Aspen if he had received everything he asked for and he responded with a huge smile on his face saying: “Everything and more!” . Here are some photos of Aspen and Clementine (My little sister) enjoying the day.
Before we knew it, it was time to head home back to our Puppy Bluebelle. In England Boxing Day (the day after Christmas) is also a holiday but Aspen and I decided to play board games and start to clean up the Christmas decorations ( I know what your thinking-I’m the Grinch!! BUT, I like to decorate early and un-decorate early so that we enter the new year on a clean slate. Do you have any special plans for New Years this year? Let me know in the comments!
