Ask me how I got to 28 years of age without ever going to a Vineyard? ย There’s always a first time for everything, so I wanted to share my top 5 Tips (along with some photos) below:
Tip #1: Google – Never underestimate the power of Google or even Instagram to find the best winery near you. It pays to do your research and pick the best one, especially if you’re driving a few hours for a day trip. I always read reviews on Tripadvisor, and use the location feature on Instagram to see the latest posts.
Tip #2: Designated Driver – If you’re going to spend the day drinking, you need to have a designated driver. Hopefully, this tip is obvious but it’s easy to overlook the small things when planning a trip.
Tip # 3: What To Wear – Did you know that wineries have dress codes? Once you’ve picked a Vineyard, I recommend heading to there website. You can also get “outfit inspiration” from other posts on Instagram. I decided to wear a long white maxi dress with some flat open-toe sandals.
Tip #4: Bring Cash – I use my Amex for absolutely everything and rarely think to bring cash, but it never hurts to be prepared. On our way, we drove past so many cute villages with small shops. There were also fruit and veggie stands which were cash only.
Tip #5: Try New Things – I’m such a creature of habit. I have routines, lists, and favorites for just about everything, but it’s good to step outside of your comfort zone (even if that means going for a glass of red wine over white). Most of the time there’s a good chance that you are being served by one of the owners, winemakers, or long time staff that can answer any of your questions regarding the wine, or winery as well!
