Wow what a week it has been. This birthday is extremely special because it’s my 29th Birthday! Aka the last year of my twenties. My twenties were a mixture of adventures, surprises, and changes. It’s fair to say my life didn’t go as my teenage self had once planned – but I’m grateful that it didn’t.
Last week after my surprise 29th Birthday Brunch in an igloo, I decided it was time to start living again. So with less than 24 hours to go, I said yes to a Ski Trip with my Mum and little sister Clementine, packed 4 bags (I never travel lightly!) and 1/2 the fridge-and off we went the next morning before sunrise.
Road Trip
It was a fun little road trip with Aspen who chatted all about his friend John and the little girl (her name was Jessica) John “likes”. Apparently these days when you like someone you write their name on your pencil box. When I was a kid, you knew someone liked you if they shared their Cinnamon Altoids! Oh how times have changed..
Half way through the trip we stopped and got Starbucks. Aspens favorite is a Strawberry Frappachino with Whipped Cream. My go-to order is a Venti Cold Brew with Almond Milk Double Blended! It’s like a Coffee Frappachino without the 49 grams of sugar!
My mum had booked us private ski lessons, and Aspen had private snowboarding lessons. It was great to get some instruction so that I/we didn’t ski down the mountain like Bridget Jones! After skiing we had some Champagne, hung out at the house and then went to dinner each evening.
Making Smore’s
One evening after dinner I made S’mores with the kids. It was messy and memorable! I can still smell the chocolate on my fingers.
Back To Reality
After a long drive home, catching up with work, emails and laundry it was time to jump right back into reality, or so I thought before waking up to a day of delightful surprises from my family! I told my mum that I didn’t want a Birthday Cake as it wouldn’t get eaten, so she sent me a beautiful Charcuterie veggie board from Charcuterie & Things ! Within minutes it was open and I was chomping. If you know me-you know that I love veggies!! What a great idea to send as an alternative to flowers/or cake.
The day didn’t end there, I was also surprised with a box from Sendacakenow which exploded with flowers and butterflies when you opened it! It had a chocolate donut in the middle, so I placed a candle inside and Aspen sung me happy birthday!
Towards the end of the evening we took a walk by the water and called it a night. Just as I was about to head upstairs the doorbell rang and it was the most beautiful vase of flowers from my parents! I’m excited for everything 29 has to offer!
