New year, new you? I believe that any time is the right time to set goals, but a new year can give you that perfect push to get started! Setting goals gives you long-term vision and short-term motivation, which brings me to 25 goals to set for growth in 2021!
Why Is Goal Setting Important?
Setting goals is important because it holds you accountable! For example, instead of saying (or writing, or manifesting..) that I want to run 10 miles by April, I need to figure out the “how” . I need to map out that if I run 3 times a week, increasing my run by 3 minutes 12 times a month, that I will be able to run 10 miles by April (this is an example, so please don’t quote me on that..but you get the gist!).
Types of Goals to Set for Personal Growth
This is going to vary per person but I believe the main four categories are physical, mentally, emotionally, and financially. You can pick one goal in each category or multiple goals in each category. My current career goals and (lack of) relationship goal(s) fall into the finance and emotion category. Again, this is something that is going to be different for everyone. Maybe your career goals fall under emotion and not finance!
We are all unique so everyones goals are going to look different, but I hope that this list of 25 goals to set for 2021 growth inspires you to make and achieve each and every one of them!
Here are examples of some goals to set in each category:
Physical
- Workout at least 4-5 times a week
- Eat more fruit and vegetables
- Start running and slowly but steadily increase milage
- Drink a gallon of water every day
- Drink no more than 1-2 cups of coffee daily
- Become Comfortable with discomfort! (challenge yourself to do something that you thought you could never do. Whether thats strength training workouts, BBG workouts or running a damn marathon! It starts in your head..)
- Cut out processed food (Diet Coke, equal, gum..the list can go on forever!)
Mentally
- Take a new course and share what you learn!
- Read 1-2 books per month
- Journal for mental health
- Find a new hobby
- Listen to 2-3 podcasts per week for personal development
- Find a mentor in your field
- Network on social media apps to grow your circle ( The social media apps I’m using the most are clubhouse, Pinterest, and instagram)
Emotional
- Start a gratitude journal
- Schedule at least one “self care” day for YOURSELF every single week
- Give more (whether thats time or money)
- Have a better work-life balance
- Be kinder to yourself (be patient, be confident, and trust your path)
- Have a 1 year plan, 5 year plan, and 10 year plan! (nothing bad ever comes from planning..)
- Protect your energy (It’s ok to outgrow people. Accept that being around someone may no longer serve you)
Financially
- Save more money (and know your why! Whether it’s to buy a house, save for retirement or take a vacation)
- Budget into categories and track every dollar spent! I’m currently using an APP called “EveryDollar” and love it.
- Advance in your career (Do you know where you want to be in one year from now? how about in five years from now? scroll up and read #6 in the emotional category!)
- Create passive income ( Passive income creates stability, security, and financial freedom. Utilize Google and YouTube to find other ways that you can be making money while you sleep!)
I know this list may seem long, but even if it inspires you to set one goal for this year then I’d say it was worth the read! What is one goal you have for yourself in 2021? Let me know in the comments!
